February 23, 2004 | Knitting pretty 3.

I finished my second sweater today (pictured above). It was a simple pattern, but it took me forever to complete the embroidered flowers and stitch together the final pieces. But it's done. And now I can buy more wool. I am notorious for starting new projects, before completing existing ones, so my life is burdened with endless to-do lists. My new resolution is to not buy supplies for the next sweater, or next quilt, until I've finished the one I'm working on. The same goes for web sites.

Last night I retired to bed with the current issue of How Design. The closing article was written by a Toronto designer, who came out publicly with his personal experience of "burnout". I was so impressed with his courage to go public. My life has been touched by two people who have suffered from creative burnout, and I have bordered upon it myself. Only now, can I see that, but at the time I was so suffocated by company politics and personal struggles with infertility, that I didn't see it in myself. Now, that I can breathe clearly, I'm bursting with creativity and positive energy. It's so refreshing.
