April 26, 2005 | Red chair | Yashika Mat
I've dusted off the Yashika Mat. Welcome back, baby.
This is one of many chairs shot at the Whitby Psyche Hospital. They were strategically placed under open windows for not so easy access to get inside the abandoned buildings.
This day left me with an elevated feeling, as if I'm slightly suspended, a few inches off the ground. I'm not sure why. Maybe it helped unleash some blocked creativity. What I do know, is that I was able to look at a subject matter with a different eye, emotionally and not object driven. I want to take more risks creatively, plan less and for once, on Sunday, I left the Holga in the car and experimented with 3200 speed film. Finally my pictures looked less like they were shot by somebody else.
There will be more pictures to come, but I have posted a number of them on Flickr.
