October 9, 2005 | Dragon Roll | canon XT

This isn't my typical toy camera or polaroid posting, but it was damn fine sushi, so I feel obliged to post it. I've never been a fan of digital, but while staying in Chicago, No Traces lent me his XT with a 50mm 1.4f lens. And now my opinion has changed. I ordered a new lens, am shooting in RAW and feeling less prejudice about the digital world in general.

Today is overcast and chilly, so not much planned except taking L and the dogs for a long walk, and maybe shopping for a duvet (yes, so very exciting). I was not in the mood for shooting this week. Feeling slightly numb. I've been trying to find some time to build a transaction page for my Holga Bitch t-shirts and buttons, but free time is few and far between these days. Hopefully this afternoon if L has a nap.

I've had some interesting insight into what I feel I need to do creatively lately, and it's not photography. Well, taking pictures has been a vehicle to getting there, but lately I've begun to realize that for me it's about telling a story, and not about composition, lighting etc. I'm not going to stop making pictures, but I'd like to start following my gut in 2006.
