February 11, 2006 | cactus on pink | polaroid 680
There is something about the cold climate that just doesn't do it for me. I grew up in a hot country, where fall and winter don't exist. So when winter hits, I find not only inspiration to be lacking, but the urge to create is dulled. I was talking with my massage therapist about this on Friday, and afterwards thought, if the tropics won't come to me, I'll damn well go out and buy some. So for only $3.50, here's my little hot weather friend - a cactus on a pink stool. I purposely turned the flash off - hoping that a little blur would add some humidity to my scene. Either that, or I'm going off my rocker. But it worked. I have four little dessert plants on my window sill, and when my rolleicord close up lenses arrive, these guys will be doing some serios long poses for me.
Five good things:
1. Watching L eat broccoli AND couscous for dinner
2. Hugs
3. Making up stories with L
4. Fresh coffee - thank you Sarah for the coffee grinder!
5. Running into neighbours after hibernating for months.
