November 23, 2007 | The first 24 hours
My niece took this photo - thanks Laura. I love it.
Everything is going well, at home. Really well. The first two weeks were really tough. Much harder than I ever expected. The combination of no sleep, drug withdrawal, hormones and breast feeding led to many tears and phone calls of support from friends and family. The word village, truly came to mind, as friends, family and neighbours helped out enormously with many of the road blocks I faced that first week. Bob patiently looked on, and let it take it's course. There is not much a guy can do to help out, other than keep the house from falling apart ... which is what he did. I'm especially grateful to my neighbours Cristina and Gillian, Christian and his wife Naomi, my sister, my mum and my friends Margaret and Elisette. I don't know what I would have done without you. And of course, to Bob, who made more than one trip to Diaper Eez to look for nursing supplies.
Now we are in out third week, and life is good. And it can only get better from here.
