I finally got through the the right person - the one who received the work order to replace the pipes outside our home. When Mae was born we had our water tested, only to receive an urgent call from Toronto Health to alert us that the lead content in our system was too high, and not to drink our tap water. A work order was granted and scheduled for within 4 -6 weeks. Ten months later, and no word from the city about the pipes. Within that time period I called to find out where we were on the list, and was rudely told by an employee for Toronto water that there was an 18 month weight, and that my water was safe to drink. In the meantime I have had to spend money on having water delivered to the house every week, what with two small ones in the house (not to mention I was drinking this water while pregnant, ignorant of the lead levels). Well, by yesterday I had had enough, and was determined to find out what was going on. After many phone calls, me keeping my cool, and many apologies from their end, it turned out that our paperwork had been misfiled and that the pipes SHOULD have been replaces in April. Fingers crossed that in six weeks from now, we will have safe water once again.
